Important Pumpkin Chucking Information

Unfortunately, we will not be holding our annual event during the 2014 Autumn Glory Celebration. Sorry to disappoint - We are setting our sights on Autumn Glory 2015. Thanks to all those who have attended the event in the past!

However, we will be demonstrating our robot from the last season of competition on Saturday Morning starting at 10:00 up to the start of the Grand Feature Parade in front of the Central Office building of the Garrett County Public Schools - 40 South Second Street. Please stop by and allow us to apologize in person!

What is FIRST?
FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition in Science and Technology) is an organization founded by Dean Kamen that has the following vision: 
"To transform our culture by creating a world where science and technology are celebrated and where young people dream of becoming science and technology heroes."

What is FRC?
FRC (FIRST Robotics Competition) is a division of FIRST dedicated to students in grades 9 thru 12.  Teams work design, develop, and build larger robots for competitions on a 25' by 50' playing field.  Each year, the design, objective, and requirements for the robotic challenge are different.

What is Team 1629?
Team 1629 is a FIRST FRC team comprised of high school students in Garrett County, Maryland.
What is GaCo?
GaCo (Garrett County Coalition) is a nickname for Team 1629.  GaCo, a blended team from two competing high schools - Northern (blue) and Southern (red), coming together in the spirit of cooperation to learn more about science and technology.
Lets Go GaCo!!!

GaCo or Gecko?
Our nickname is GaCo.  But it is close enough to a gecko that a gecko is our team mascot!  His name is Sticky!  (Geico we would love a sponsorship).
